Council Meeting Highlights + April 19, 2022

Trinity's Congregation Council meets each 3rd Tuesday at 6:30 PM. All are welcome to attend and observe. To speak at a meeting, or with other comments or questions, email the council: council2122@tlcs.church.

Greetings from the Congregation Council!

We met on April 19 and discussed the following items:

We had a critical discussion about the Stewardship Campaign for funding the roof repairs and beyond.

  • Don Boelter, Mark Schmidt, and David Fox led us through a discussion about ways to fund the roof replacement project. In particular, our potential lenders on this project all recommended hiring a capital campaign consultant to ensure success.

  • The consultants they have met with are focusing on a capital campaign as well as overall holistic approaches to stewardship for the congregation. We want to go beyond simply purchasing a roof and find ways to grow in ministry and as a people of God.

  • Next steps:

  • Reach out to the different consultants’ references

  • Gain additional details about the feasibility study and planning process

The Council approved a continuing resolution to activate Mutual Ministry Committees.

  • This is the result of work over the past few months to create guidelines for Mutual Ministry at TLCS.

  • We are using a Continuing Resolution to allow us to move forward until we have time to update our bylaws, as necessary.

  • We will schedule a forum in May to share more about our plans for mutual ministry.

Lastly, we discussed important revisions to Trinity’s Governing Documents.

  • Cliff Bronson, Mike Schultz, Pastor Hector, Don Boelter, and Mark Schmidt are reviewing our existing constitution and bylaws.

  • During the June congregational meeting, we will ask the congregation to approve updates to the constitution that were approved at the 2019 ELCA Churchwide Assembly.

  • We will schedule a forum in May to share more about these changes and other planned updates to our constitution and bylaws.

We pray and thank God for you, and humbly ask that you keep us and the congregation in your prayers and we do this work.
