Blessed are those who put their trust in God, with God for their hope. They are like a tree planted by the river that thrusts its roots toward the stream. When the heat comes it feels no heat; its leaves stay green. It is untroubled in a year of drought, and never ceases to bear fruit.

e. Just as leaves fall and fruits decompose, only to give rise to new growth, so too are we called to a rhythm of receiving and releasing.

“Generosity Lived: Rooted in Community” invites us to embrace a lifestyle of generosity, deeply intertwined with our faith and daily actions. Our church and schools form a vital part of a multifaceted community that extends from our congregation and students to the broader Lynnwood area. With the construction of the Lynnwood Neighborhood Center on our property, new light rail developments, rapid population growth, and shifting demographics, our role in the community is more crucial than ever.

God calls us to be catalysts for healing and transformation within our community. By strengthening our Mission Budget, we can address both mission priorities and ongoing capital needs, ensuring that our roots grow deeper and our branches extend further. This initiative encourages us to view generosity as a holistic way of life—an active, vibrant expression of our faith that permeates every aspect of our community, bringing hope, support, and love.

We are committed to being a force for positive change in the community. As a result of the tremendous generosity during the ‘Build Up, Branch Out’ campaign these past two years, we were able to allocate 9% of our Mission Budget: 7% for Synod Mission Support and 2% for a local organization. In 2024, we supported Cocoon House, a vital support system for homeless youth in our region. For 2025, you will help select where these Mission Giving Funds go.

Let us join together in God’s mission by making a meaningful commitment. Prayerfully consider how you can contribute through your time, talents, and resources to help nurture a stronger, more connected community. Together, through “Generosity Lived: Rooted in Community,” we can embody the love and grace of God, transforming lives and creating lasting change in the world around us.

REST (Real Escape from the Sex Trade), founded in 2009, provides holistic, survivor-centered services to individuals affected by sex trafficking, focusing on empowering survivors from crisis to independence. REST's mission is to expand pathways to freedom, safety, and hope for those trapped in the sex trade. Their services range from community advocacy and outreach to mental health and substance use support, housing assistance, and an emergency receiving center. REST’s trauma-informed approach prioritizes the needs of survivors, offering them the tools to regain control over their lives and move from stabilization to independence.

REST was created in response to a gap in services for sex trafficking survivors, a population often turned away by other organizations due to the complexity of their trauma. REST’s model is rooted in relationship-building, which allows them to address these challenges and offer survivor-driven care. Though they are a Christian organization, REST serves individuals of all faiths, creating a respectful and inclusive healing environment. Faith is never a requirement to receive services; instead, survivors are empowered to incorporate their own spiritual beliefs at their own pace.

With a focus on belonging, honor, trustworthiness, and tenacity, REST walks alongside survivors on their journey to freedom, helping them rebuild their lives. By centering their services on relationships and minimizing barriers, REST continues to be a vital resource for hundreds of individuals exploited by the sex trade every year.
